Columbus, Ohio freelance worker law: $250 written contract, 30-day payment

Columbus added freelance worker protections to its City Code in 2023 and replaced the chapter in 2024.

What the law says

A written contract is required when the contract is worth $250 or more, alone or aggregated with the same hiring party over the preceding 120 days.

Payment is due on or before the contract date or, if none is specified, no later than 30 days after the work is completed.
